Leather olive tanned Monaco Black 0500

Monaco is made of European raw hides, produced in a non-toxic tanning process where the active substance is coming from olive leaves. The hides are without humps or burn marks and with an embossing that makes the leather very suitable for dinning chair and sofas.

The tanning agent is a vegetable concentrate based on an aqueous olive leaf extract which is a by-product from the olive trees. The plant extract is free from metal and any chemically synthetic reactive tanning agents. The wastewater is purified in their own water treatment plant and the consumption is reduced a lot compared to ordinary tanning processes. Furthermore, this process allows reduction of acids, salts, syntans and dyestuffs. The same tanning agent can be found in natural cosmetics as well as in virgin olive oil.
